Event 23.4 – The Upside Down

INTERMEDIATE: Bear crawl (forward/reverse) 12-8-4 toe to bar
SCALED/NOVICE: Bear crawl (forward/reverse), 12-8-4 knees to chest

*Athletes must handstand walk 25 feet (5 foot sections) from rower to rig and backwards handstand walk 25 feet (5 foot sections) from rig to rower. 1 point will be awarded for every 5 foot section the athlete travels. 12:00 time cap.

*For the 50+ divisions, scaling of the handstand walk is allowed in this workout. All those scaling will be scored below those doing the workout as prescribed.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS
Row: On the rower, the monitor will be set to zero, and the athlete must reach the required calories before moving off the equipment. The athlete can adjust the damper at any time Athletes may not touch the monitor.

Handstand Walk: The athlete must start with the hands (entire hand, including palm and fingers) behind the line denoting the start of the segment being attempted. When kicking up, stepping across the line or landing with the hands on or over the line constitutes a no rep. If the athlete comes down at any time, the athlete must restart from the last section completed.Both hands, including palms and fingers, must clearly cross the line to earn credit for that section.
5’ minimum requirement

Backward Handstand Walk: All standards from the handstand walk apply the same, except: The athlete must kick up facing the direction opposite of travel.

Bear Crawl: The athlete begins facing the direction of travel. The athlete must place both hands (entire hand, including palm and fingers) behind the line denoting the start of the segment being attempted. The athlete must touch both palms to the floor while moving forward.The athlete’s hips must remain above the head for duration of the crawl

5’ minimum requirement

Backwards Bear Crawl: All standards from the bear crawl apply the same, except: The athlete must begin facing the direction opposite of travel. The athlete must have both feet and hands behind the line denoting the start of the segment being attempted.

Pullover: Athletes must start in a hanging position with arms fully extended. The athlete must then lift their legs up and over the bar in a rotating manner, resulting in a support position above the bar. The rep will be credited when the athlete shows control with the arms fully extended. Each rep must begin with the athlete re-establishing a straight elbow position beneath the bar.
Back hip circles will not be allowed.

Toes to Bar: Athletes must start in a hanging position with arms fully extended and the feet off the ground. The feet must be brought back behind the bar and the rest of the body. The rep is credited when both feet contact the bar at the same time, inside the hands. Any style of grip is permitted.

Knees to Chest: Athletes must start in a hanging position with arms fully extended and the feet off the ground. The feet must be brought back behind the bar and the rest of the body. The rep is credited when both knees are clearly above the athletes mid-section or “bellybutton”. Any style of grip is permitted.
