From The
Ground Up.
When Regionals went away in 2018, the West Coast lost its stage. The NorCal Classic was built to bring it back — gritty tests, athletes of every age and ability, and an outdoor energy undeniable to this region. Seven years later, we're a CrossFit Semifinal.
770 athletes entered the Online Qualifier. 366 showed up to compete along the scenic Riverfront Park in West Sacramento across 2½ days. Sixteen individual divisions, two team divisions, and the first proof of concept that the West Coast was ready for this.
931 athletes entered the Online Qualifier — a 21% increase over year one. We expanded to 20 divisions including our first 60+ athletes. The main event was cancelled by state mandate, but the community came back harder for it.
Simply having a live event in 2021 felt like a win. To comply with California gathering restrictions, NCC split across three separate weekends — Scaled, Masters, and Elite. The community made it work anyway.
Lake Natoma. First year and it already felt like we'd been coming here forever. 2022 also marked the debut of Novice and Teenage competitors — expanding what this event could mean for the community. 982 qualifiers, 26 divisions, half a million dollars in the pipeline.
1,357 athletes entered the qualifier — nearly 40% more than 2022. The new Intermediate division opened the door even wider. 704 athletes made it to the main event. $115K on the line. This is when it became clear: NCC wasn't an experiment anymore.
1,526 qualifier athletes. 821 at the main event in Granite Bay. 250+ gyms represented. The energy was undeniable. NCC had become the kind of event that gyms plan their whole season around — the one you mark on the calendar in January.
2025 changed everything. NCC became an official CrossFit Semifinal — sending 2 men and 2 women to the CrossFit Games. Discovery Park in downtown Sacramento became our new home, and 958 athletes competed for the title of Best in the West. A packed vendor village, an army of volunteers, and a crowd that made it feel like the region's biggest sporting moment since 2015.

vs. Everybody.
The noise got loud this year. People thought NCC was on the back foot — overshadowed, outcompeted, intimidated by what was happening around us. They were wrong. We went back to the roots. Gritty tests. Real athletes. Outdoor Sacramento energy. The things that made the CrossFit community fall in love with competition before it got complicated. The result? 1,200+ athletes across 36 divisions — our biggest field ever. The West doesn't pivot when things get hard. The West shows up.
